Accommodation

The Chaplaincy contains a 28 bed block of student accommodation known as Church Hostel. Church Hostel is registered with Landlord Accreditation Wales, a professional body which trains landlords and encourages good letting practice. We are also signed up to the University's Code of Conduct for landlords.

Residency in the Chaplaincy is different from other student living in Bangor - probably in the UK. It is neither a hall of residence or a private house, although we try and combine the best of both. Our life together is grounded on a Christian ethos. This doesn't require residents to sign up to a set of beliefs, but it does mean we try and live out Jesus' principle of loving our neighbours as ourselves. In practice it means the Chaplaincy has a lot of shared space - the dining room, kitchen, common room, old library, chapel, and garden, where people can meet and interact. The residential community is one community which overlaps with the other communities that come here for various activities.

Our self-catered rooms are competitively priced and each contains a bed, mattress, book shelving, desk and chair, clothes storage, and curtains. There are good communal facilities including a large dining room, residents' lounge, attractive grounds and free storage in the basement. We have recently renewed all our bathrooms. There is gas central heating and wi-fi internet throughout the hostel.

Academic year residents are automatically members of the University Anglican Society which elects officers who are responsible for organising socials and other events which members are interested in.
